Competition: Win the 1959 FA Cup Final on DVD!

I’ve oft lamented my age meaning I missed out on our headiest of heights in the late seventies and early eighties, but much like the history of football didn’t begin with Sky Cameras and the Premier League in 1992 – that wasn’t when Forest first shot to prominence either.  Last year I reviewed a fantastic book about Forest’s 1959 FA Cup run, which of course culminated in heroic captain Jack Burkitt lifting the trophy, well now you can relive the match itself.

We are a famous team of firsts – many of which I’ve probably mentioned before, but in 1959 we became the first team to win the FA Cup when reduced to ten men (Roy Dwight, scorer of our first goal and relative of Elton John, went off with a nasty injury – and there were no substitutes in those days!), we were also the first team to do a lap of honour after claiming the trophy.

You can re-live this, or – if like me you’re a bit too young for that – live it in DVD form thanks to Tikabooson.  Better still, they are offering Forest fans the chance to get it at a discounted price too – if you enter the code FOREST20DEC as you ‘check out’ you will be able to buy the DVD for just £8.95 rather than the recommended retail price of £15.99.  Perfect for any last minute Christmas presents you might need for the Reds fan in your life!  Click here for the product page.

The other not inconsiderable bonus for football supporters of a certain age is that the commentary for the match is provided by the legendary and sadly departed Kenneth Wolstenholme!

Even better than getting it for a discount, however, is that Tikabooson have kindly offered to send me two copies to use as competition prizes – so, for a chance to win – please send an email to nffc@nffcblog.com with your name and address (so that I can send the DVD to you), and also the captain of Nottingham Forest for this game.  I’ll keep the competition open ’til midday on Tuesday 14th December then pick two winners at random.

I don’t have the prizes ‘in hand’ yet so can’t guarantee I’ll be able to get them delivered pre-Christmas, but certainly if I have them on deadline day I’ll endeavour to get them to you on time – however, if you do require them as a festive treat it would probably be best to order one quickly – it’s not long before we’ll start to hear those sleigh-bells overhead!

Good luck, everyone!  Also for those of you using twitter, then it would be worth following @tikaboosondvd as there are plans afoot for further Forest releases in the future.

        • Hmm. It might be a problem with delivery given the shit weather in some areas – although it would seem unusual…

They’re based up in Preston I think, not sure how the weather has been up there – try dropping an email to enquiries@tikabooson.com to chase up – and let me know if you’re still struggling..
