Just got word of the score … Naturally I am gutted, and rather inappropriately cursing a fairly distant relative opted to pass away when they did (I realise I’m going to hell now).

You bloody Reds!

  1. ermm….match report please?

  2. wow .. why can’t forest play this good at home!

  4. Yes NFFC you will go to hell!

  5. Pembo’s barmy army. Someone give that fellor a job. 2 superb away wins in a week.
    Over to you Billy!

  6. Sam, give him a chance. Can’t you read?

Nffc, what 2 do? Only a game but agree what a game to miss.

  7. What a record….. P2 W2 D0 L0…..Goals Scored 8 (I do admit to a little poetic licence about the goals scored!)

This is just what we need to unite this club behind our new manager.

Ey ey ey ey ey ey oh…up the football league we go….! U REDsssssss!!!!

  8. Mixed feelings…. unbelievably excited about the result BUT could PEMBO be THE ONE?

  9. Great stuff Reds. Keep it up! We love you!

  10. Amazing result! Just hoping BD had a slight input in last couple of days and this wasn’t all Pembo. Wanted him to take job for long time now.

Ultimately who cares, we have had our best result in time and things are looking up, am absolutely ecstatic to be in 4th round, we haven’t had a decent FA Cup run for a while.

  11. I have a feeling it will be Derby in the next round.

    U reds………..

  12. Just got home – fantastic result (obviously) but also a very good team performance.

The players looked like they knew what they were doing, why they were doing it and who had responsibility for marking, breaking up play etc …! Perch was captain and looked really proud and involved to be so. Unfortunately, he got flattened early on and the resultant injury forced him to leave the game after about 17minutes to be replaced by Wilson, who took-up Cohen’s starting position at left-back as Cohen moved into midfield.

I thought the first 15-20 minutes were a bit nervy. Both McGugan and Thornhill spurned good headed opportunities, but Forest were steadily growing in confidence.

Then, Tyson!! And to be honest, I’m not really sure how to describe such a clean and fantastic strike other than make sure you watch and/or record ITV “FA Cup Highlights” this evening! I can’t remember the build-up other than the ball was crossed over from the right wing evading everyone (because the cross was too high) until Tys, seeing the ball coming over, steadied himself and fired an unbelieveable shot from the edge of the penalty area, across Hart and into the far corner. He looked as shocked as all of us, but believe me, it was a very deliberate strike of the ball and he then ran the entire length of the pitch to celebrate in front of the ‘going barmy’ Forest fans.

A few minutes later, Cohen won the ball of an inept Man City defender, crossed low for Thornhill whose scuffed shot was ‘skillfully deflected’ into the far corner by Earnshaw; 0-2!!! The remaining few minutes of the half were a bit of a dream, made even better by lots of singing at the confused looking Man City fans and Forest not looking in any real trouble.

The 2nd half was, as expected a bit nervy, with Man City coming into the game more and more, but to be honest, without any real threat. That said, Smith made a couple of excellent saves to follow-up a couple of really strong saves in the 1st half and looked like a completely different keeper from a few months ago – he was confident, commanded his box well and provided excellent distribution, short and long, quick and slow throughout the game.

Both Earnshaw and first, Tyson took knocks in the 2nd half and were substituted by Garner and Davies respectively, with Garner’s first real action taking advantage of more inept defending by the Man City defence to win the ball, take on a defender and fire a low shot in at the near post beyond Hart’s dive!

Game over and the City fans started leaving! So bring on the 4th round!

Great credit must go to Pemberton who has guided the players to show them how to play as a team and that they are good players (even Wilson (after a shaky start) and Chambers looked pretty solid) who can complement each other. My man of the match; Breckin who always looked in control, never missed a header and acted like the captain we know him to be once he had received the armband from Perch.

So, 2 games, 8 goals scored and no opposition players has scored against ‘Pembo’s Army’. The baton now passes to BD who will have quite an act to follow and will be under a little bit more pressure than he probably expected. Pembo has shown what clarity of though and execution canm deliver and great credit to him for that. CC must be even more disappointed and whilst I did and do feel a bit sorry for him, today’s performance shows the real potential of the players we have when they play as a unit.

I can’t wait for the Charlton game next Saturday. U Reds!!

  13. Fan ‘bloody’ tastic!!! ENjoy, and lets repeat at Charlton. Great Stuff.

  14. My man of the match was Smith, he made a couple of good saves in the first half but in the first 10 minutes of the second half he was superb, if any of those shots had gone in, it would have been a very different result.

An all round great team performance, especially breckin and cohen, mc gugan i thought looked a little off his best but lets not look for negatives.
i have a lovely image of Pemberton saying to BD “beat that!” as they get on the coach.

In the hat for the fourth round, come on you reds!!!!

  15. Yep, beat that Billy D! Very well done to Pembo’s army.

Let’s hope Brecks is taken off the transfer list immediately. He should have been in the team all along.

Let’s hope we get Manure in round 4 and do the Manc double. She wore, she wore, she wore a scarlet ribbon….

  16. Looking forward to playing the “city all stars” next season.

  17. Billy Davies ….. “I’ll leave the club in a better position when I eventually leave” …… yes but if he left tomorrow how many Managers can put on their CV they left the club in a better condition before they even started ??

When is the last time we won 3 – nil?
When is the last time we beat a premiership side away from home?
When is the last time we beat a team in the top flight 3-0 away from home?

    Victor Maldrew …

  18. So will this result have alerted the football world to our rising young talent? Will McGugan, Tyson or Garner be the the next signing for Mark Hughes?! Speaking of which – Wayne Bridge – 100k a week for a player who was happy to trot out for a few games a year for so long? Where’s the hunger? A huge waste of money!

I also spare a thought for Calderwood who must see that result and wonder what might have been. Also feel sorry for Pemberton talking about going back to the day job on monday / taking the reserves to Lincoln on wednesday! I won’t be surprised if another club comes in for him as manager.

  19. Well done Pembo !!! I wanted you to have the job until the end of the season as I know we would have stayed up. Instead the dreaded arthur acted too quickly and we now have davies and his FOUR support team to pay. I hope they give Pembo the respect he deserves and leave him alone to continue the fantastic job he is doing.
Fantastic day for Forest and the lucky 6000 supporters who will never forget this day .. Well done Forest.!! What a confidence boost !!!
Beat that davies and team….Pembo Rules !!!

  20. Best win in recent years. No MOTD and fcuking ITV put the fcuking lucky ar@ehole sheep shaggers as top billing on their nobby version of the programme. I’ll be fcuked if I’m going to watch that bollocks!!!

    Signed Bitter of Deeping

  21. what a great day out, we rode our luck for the first 15-20 mins. some of there passing and running was showing the difference in class. then we started to feel more confident. we started passing the ball and tackling a lot harder. i could not believe tysons goal, what a cracker !!! then you are thinking, lets just get to half time, but no we get another !!! unbelievable, just fantastic. I thought Smith was MOTM. I’m still not happy with davies, Pemberton may well me a two game wonder but we will never know. what was clear yesterday though was he had a simple plan, everyone knew what they were to do and they stuck at it. even when he was forced to make a sub he never changed it. well done Forest, well done Mr Pemberton…and thank you

  22. sb has said it all really – one thing though it took nearly 40 minutes to actually get a decision from referee Probert ! great day, great support, john pemberton superb, quick mention to all the forest fans in the GUVNER’S bar bout five minutes from the ground, obviously a city pub through and through due to the decor inside and out – opened the door to be greeted by an army of forest fans singing their hearts out, quality !!!

  23. No matter what we say chaps, I think you will all agree that man of the match was… Fear Factor!

Good move by Davies to watch from the stands so that he could have a clearer view of his squad. It made all players work their socks off to impress him. They felt their future at the club was at stake and here’s the result. Now I’m not sure Breckin will still be on the transfer list, or Earnshaw will be in the doghouse, or Smith must worry about BD picking another goalie thru the transfer window to replace him (even though I’d love to have Camp back).

That said, I must extend my thanks not only to the players and John Pemberton, who has shown for once more that he will be a hell of a manager when he decides it, but also to Colin Calderwood for putting together the squad he has. I think even Billy Davies will reconsider about making wholesale changes, and I heard he said that somewhere BEFORE the Man City game, so I’m sure now that the team’s chemistry won’t be distracted to a great extent (he looks and sounds like a clever b*****d, he does).

So now we have one more reason to get behind the team AND the new manager. Now that we took over Manchester, it’s time we conquer London as well! U REDS!

PS: SB did a great job in filling nffc’s shoes about the match report. nffc, sorry about your loss (erm… I mean both of them!).

  24. oh and apparently DR Who used to play for Forest !!!!!!

  25. Just watched the goals! You can all see them here:

What a blast from Tyson. What grit and determination by Cohen in the second. And agreed, the third one was a gift, but also what a shot by Garner just inside the post in the corner the goalie was supposedly guarding! All three were BEAUTIES! Yes, we can play attractive attacking football!

  26. PS – Who needs MOTD or ITV’s version when u got all you lot to help out. 😀

  27. All Major football (ie. Prem or FA Cup, SerieA, La Liga, etc) is available to watch Free of Charge on the internet. Most of it is streamed either from the US or the Far East. You just need a bit of software called PPmate. Be careful where you download it from as a lot of sites hosting it plonk a load of spyware onto your machine so try to find an FTP site if you can.
