Fletcher in on loan?..

Apparently we’re signing Welsh International Carl Fletcher on loan; although the whispers I heard were that it would be completed today – and as far as I can tell, it hasn’t been.  Perhaps Warnock has been time-wasting from afar again?  Or perhaps not.  After Palace’s shameful antics at the City Ground he owes us a favour, and an experienced midfielder like Fletcher would be sure to strengthen the middle of the park.

He has a reputation as a ball winner, but also as someone able to pick out a pass – which is something we’ve really lacked since Moussi went off the boil a bit (and is now injured), although I do think this was partially down to losing the ‘outlet’ that is McGugan, as well as never having the traditional outlet midfielders in this country are used to having, which is of course a winger!  But it’s good to see the Reds going out to try to resolve problems to try to correct the slump we’ve found ourselves in.

So, what do we know?  I profess to knowing very little about him; he’s 28, played for Palace 73 times, his former clubs include West Ham and Bournemouth, and he’s been capped 29 times for Wales.  His latest as early as this week, where he put in a credible performance against a strong German midfield.  Forest are hoping to get him signed and sealed in time for the weekend’s trip to Queens Park Rangers – fingers crossed they’ve either:

(a) Already managed it, but forgotten to update the official website or:
(b) Get it done and dusted tomorrow morning!

In the meantime, me being a person of little faith, has every reason to feel a little humbled – because this morning waiting in my email inbox was the image to the left – a Subbuteo representation of Trevor Francis with the European Cup on his head.  This was courtesy of regular commenter Radgie, and were quickly followed up with the below compilations – can you identify the Forest-related historical moments depicted therein?  Thanks for going to the trouble, Radgie!

  1. Celebrating promotion 3rd May 2008 and Trevor Francis’ winning goal vs malmo in 1979!!??

Good news on Fletcher (assuming he signs), but how have we managed to sign a current Welsh international – is this Robbie Earnshaw’s influence? Let’s hope he helps us get back on track!

  2. That didn’t take long! Of course, I have just noticed that there is rather a big clue available by hovering over the images and thus revealing the filenames!

Oh well, it was fun anyway 🙂

  3. Ok – The latest news from the City ground is as follows – Moussi out possibly till the New Year or maybe longer, Sinclair shipped on loan to the Stags and Fletcher oin on loan for 6 weeks.

All updated on the NFFC official site as the day/morning/night (depending on where you r on this planet) progresses.

  4. Does anyone know if we signed those Arsenal kids? Unfortunately, I have a friend who is a Palace fan, and he is bemused as to why he’s not been playing, so we’ve done well to get a stop gap til the Moose is back, if he does really well he could well sign…

  5. john, according to an arsenal blog (young-guns) we haven’t signed them. although my mate recently saw them at a reserve match watching so i assume they are discussing it still?

  6. Fletcher seems a good signing. Like Earnie he should have a new lease of life and I can see him playing for a contract and becoming our club captain.
Perchy should stay at right back…at last
.I´m getting more optomistic now. A draw at qpr followed by wins over ipswich and cardiff……….

  7. Enough excuses – we’re close to a full team playing 4-4-2 and still we no closer to winning and top that Derby if scores are as they are go upto 8th!!

  8. Another defeat but at least we scored ….

  9. Worrying listening to the commentary…..Anderson surrounded by 4 rangers players alone and not receiving any help from anyone !!!!”2 home games for cc now…Mcleary and Tyson seem to be working hard…

  10. Back to league one we go
