Forest defence gets Lynched..

Forest have signed a defender on loan, he’s a full back who is typically a centre half.  A left footed one, he broke into the Brighton team as a left back, and has recently refused to play for them according to the numerous rumours doing the rounds.  Joel Lynch, that’s his name – apologies for that omission, and he joins on a month’s loan; presumably he will ostensibly provide cover for Bennett given his return to first team contention at the weekend.

So it’s a full back, kind of – indeed, he’s lined up left, right and centre back so is flexible – which is always a bonus when signing to play for Smoulderwood; it will be interesting to see if he’s been signed with an intention to feature, or whether the loan is simply a mechanism to arrange a trial.

That said, I have actually heard of Lynch before and understand him to be pretty highly rated (and still young at just under 21), and these Brighton fans seem to have the typical mix of bitterness and disappointment that’s common to us all when a player looks set to be plotting their escape from a club.  Interesting that there are comments there that we’ve been ‘sniffing around’ him since August; perhaps we are the cause of his original unsettlement down at the Seagulls.

So welcome on board Joel; certainly our defence is a big talking point at the moment – given our proclivity to leak goals left, right and centre at the moment – and since you have a track record of playing left, right and centre, let’s hope you can be the man to add some miserliness that we enjoyed last season.

  1. Ha ha! Love the left right and centre gag NFFC.

So now we’re looking at another centre back to join the ranks of our makeshift full backs! Chambers is a centre back being played out of position at right back. James Perch, our back up right back, insists he is actually a centre back and that’s still where he wants to play. And left back Julian Bennett used to play centre back aswell!

Would it be too much to ask for us to sign a right back who wants to play there?!

Disappointed that Brendan Maloney hasn’t been given a chance. He looked great when playing for Chesterfield when I saw them on TV last year.

  2. CANT BE ANY WORSE THAN THE ONES WE HAVE GIVE HIM A CHANCE

  3. KNOWING CALDERWOOD HE MIGHT END UP AT CENTRE FORWARD WITH ONE OF HIS NEW FORMATIONS OR AT BACK OF THE STAND SELLING NEWSPAPERS

  4. Any new face will help to hopefully improve the performances of the current playing staff.
As you say,it would be nice to sign an experienced rightback. Good comments as usual. I have a good feeling about the plymouth game .Let´s see !! Alan

  5. Just what exactly did Joe Heath do wrong that we need cover at left back for?

Or has he been signed to provide a challenge to Wilson as the left sided centre back? That would make more sense.

  6. CC has said that he is coming to “let us have a good look at him” or some such, so I’d consider it no more than an extended trial. Even so it may light a fire under the current lot knowing that the gaffer can bring in new faces if he wants to.

By the way he made his name (what little name he has) at centre half, and although he can also play full back his performances there have earned mixed reviews.

  7. Oh dear, a left back who’s used as a center back who might end up at the back selling newspapers behind the back of the stand!!! Where is he? Yes, at the back!!! 😆 SO, what experience does he have in the CCC – not that much for me to raise an eyebrow. I would have much prefered someone with a heck of lot more experience at this level as it is something we are missing.

I’m sorry if other don’t agree with me but defenders with no or little experience don’t seem better than those we already have.

  8. Any chance of the right back we so desperately need?!?!

  9. decent signing and leaves us with good competion at the full back areas and at centre half jsust what we need!!!!
