Surely Krissy won’t sign for the Sheep?

Of course, as the joy subsides a little it was inevitable the rumours would start to surface, and not all of them would be nice.  I’ve heard a few whisperings about the Sheep being interested in Kris, but it wasn’t until the Evening Post picked up the ageing rumour and ran with it that I saw fit to comment myself, particularly since there were so many more important things to be focusing on in terms of on-the-pitch action!

The reports are suggesting he’s already agreed terms, for wages outside of our structure (having said that, since we’ve attained promotion, presumably our wage structure will be adjusted accordingly?).  Now of course, you don’t have to go back too far to find movement of players between the two clubs that perhaps wasn’t expected, indeed, John Robertson did just that and partly destroyed Clough/Taylor’s already fragile relationship, yet is still revered here.

Now Commons is no Robertson, but I would be disappointed if he were to seek pastures new now the Reds have been promoted.  Had we languished yet again in League One I think he would have been perfectly entitled to seek football at a higher level; and since it’s unlikely a Premier League team will come in for him, I would hope that Forest will – sooner rather than later – make him a sensible offer and get him signed up (and Sammy Clingan too, for that matter).

If he is to leave, then so be it.  On his day he’s fantastic, on others not – I was looking forward to seeing him play for us in the Championship because he should have more opportunity to flourish without being clattered every five minutes by some lower league clogger – but we shall see.  If he leaves, to someone other than the Sheep, then I wish him well.  If he does deign to sign for Derby then he’s dead to me!

Of course, the Evening Post are not famed for their insightful journalism nor accuracy of rumours, so let’s hope that unlike Forest, they haven’t undergone a miraculous turnaround in form!

  1. I too fear this & has gained passed since we got up BUT he said achive promotion & I’ll stay. We’ve done that now it’s your turn to so that. I doubt he’ll go to the Rams & like you he’ll be dead to me 2 IF, & that’s a big IF he goes.

I doubt it but can’t ignore it yet. Befor we start signing players we must tie up those we have for longer…

  2. I got told a month ago by someone who knows Kris that the Derby deal was a done deal. The people I told thought I was bullshiting but it appears not.

However a month ago we didn’t look like we were going up, if he did agree terms, he must have said I would sign if Forest don’t go up.

Hope he stays because he’s got the bit of skill we need in the championship.

If he goes then he will be in for one heck of a time when he returns next season.

  3. I think he owes us. Too many times this season he has turned up for 10/15 mins per game. I agree with you NFFC that on his day he is superb, this season though he has not had many of those days.
He was fantastic against Yeovil and I would like to think that he could perform like that week in week out in the CCC. Forest have got promoted, Kris should repay some of the faith the Forest fans have in him.
Or have Forest decided to let him go and will look for Arron Davies & Garath McCleary to step up ??

  4. The board surely can’t repeat the mistakes of the past and let our best players leave to join our rivals (Simeca, Brennan, G Williams to name a few) for the sake of a couple of extra grand a week?! We would not be able to replace his creativity without spending very big or being very lucky. Also, I’m sure he would want to stay with Forest above any other Championship team so please make it happen Arthur and co, give us every chance next season, otherwise we will be scrapping for our lives again beore too long like Sheffield Wednesday.

  5. THESE PLAYERS THINK THEY ARE SOMTHING SPECIAL,I HEARD AGOGO HAD AGREED TO JOIN A TEAM IN THE MIDDLE EAST FOR A MILLION QUID ABOUT A MONTH AGO,NOW COMMONS OF TO JOIN THE SHEEP,IF THEYGET A DOZEN GAMES A SEASON OUT OF HIM THEY WILL BE LUCKY AND IF HE GIVES 100% IN HALF OF THEM THEY WILL BE VERY LUCKY INDEED,APART FROM THIS WHAT A GREAT WEEKEND SHEEP DOWN FOXES DOWN REDS UPPPPPP.

  6. Personally I’m in two minds about him. He is and has been our most naturallly talented player, since Andy Reid I guess. Tyson clearly has talent but has shown very little apart from the Charlton FA cup game last season to name one (I cannot think of too many to be honest). Commons is a good player and he seems to have been committed in part to Forest’s cause but I think he thinks he is better than all this and only shows his talent when he can be bothered, maybe when somebody is watching him, I don’t know. I get the impression he is a lot more focused on his own career than playing for Forest (not that team loyalty for any professional football player means anything at all now). He’s missed the boat on that one though as you get recognised more so for being committed to your team. If he goes, well lets hope we get someone else in. If he stays, I dare say he will continue in his half hearted commitment. And if Agogo wants to go, personally I’ll take a couple of quid for him. He’s absolute pants. At least Commons’ half hearted attitude is made up for with his talent. Agogo lacks commitment and talent. Remember boys, no team is one player and I feel we will be a whole lot more attractive now we are in the division above. Maybe Smoulds will go for Danns again ……. well probably not but we can expect better quality from now on coming through our doors. Uuuuuuu Reeeedddssss!!!!!

  7. It’s not even a week and the vicious rumours have started already. Sky reports Agogo still wants off (via his agant!!) & Commons to Derby (as do all the papers)

Chill guys, the football season hasn’t closed yet nor has the transfer season opened. Last January they wanted a few of our players but no-one left. This summer we’re not in Div 1 no more (Hurray!!!!!) which we all know is a major major factor. Agogo’s agent is an idiot – he’s not looking after his player, he’s after his pocket.

Anyway, let’s forgot about all these nasty nasty rumours and enjoy our promotion. Now we got more bargaining power maybe we get steal the Best man!!! No no, I mean the Best man – yes Leon from our Midland rivals.

  8. guys commons is a forest fan and is nottingham born but what we all know about forest is they leave it to the last minute for contract renewals, i think he will stay if he knows whats good for him .
