Local charities profit by £100k from Brian Clough game..

The bean-counters have taken an age to calculate the gains from the inaugural ‘Brian Clough Trophy’ contest between Forest and Derby back in July.  The great news is that £100,000 has been raised to benefit local charities – which is probably the only good thing to come from the idea from our perspective!

Regardless though, it’s fantastic that the legacy the great man has left to both clubs is able to be leveraged to benefit charitable causes local to both Nottingham and Derby.

The cash has been split a number of ways, with £25k going each to Derby, Forest and the Brian Clough Memorial Fund’s nominated charities, with the remaining £25k to be split equally between the East Midlands Air Ambulance and the East Midlands NSPCC.  Derby’s and the Brian Clough Memorial Fund’s nominated charities haven’t been detailed – Forest have nominated the Danielle Beccan Memorial Trust as their sole charity.

Of course, assuming we get our finger out and maintain a serious promotion bid this season – it looks as though we’ll have an opportunity next season to contest the trophy next season in the league, as Derby look increasingly out of their depth in the Premier League this season – let’s hope it’s more of an even contest than the pre-season shambles this year!

  2. Bless! The site started in a very mindless manner, maybe I’ve become more focused!

  3. I agree Alan, and thank you nffc for allowing us less clever souls the opportunity to have a grumble now and again!
Mind you, am I an hour behind you living near Lincoln? My watch and the time of the posted comments don’t agree!

  4. I suspect my American hosts are responsible for the time lag – odd though, as it’s not US time either!
