The inevitable prediction game..

The BBC helpfully have an online league predictor for League One.  It’s a tough game to resist – so I’ve had a bash with it – feel free to do so yourselves and share your results – I actually had Bristol City along with us continuing to bottle it allowing Blackpool to supplant both of us to pick up 2nd spot – leaving us, in this case, in third place and thus a play off semi final date with Yeovil Town, probably the preferable of the options open to us.

Admittedly, still being incredibly irritated by Forest I’ve been quite unkind with our predictions – and I suspect my distaste towards Bristol City has possibly made me a little overly harsh on their results too.  But that’s what it’s all about really, isn’t it?  Looking at our run in – if we could sort ourselves out it’s certainly not a foregone conclusion just yet – and I definitely do think that Blackpool are the ones to watch.

Here’s to Neil Harris redeeming himself in the eyes of a few riled fans and scoring the winning goal for Millwall against Bristol City on 28th April.  Hmmm, now I really am dreaming, aren’t I?  But there are a few twists and turns to come, I think – indeed, I had Forest in 2nd place with one game to go – only to disappoint with a draw against Crewe on the final day of the season to consign us to the playoffs.

  1. One thing that was noticable about Monday, and I know a bit obvious, but at £10 a ticket the CG was packed. Ok, it was bank holiday but if MA reduced the ticket prices for the last 2 home games to say £15 to get the fans in to back the team then:
    a) a small amount of faith will be regained from the supporters
    b) a better atmosphere to back the team with for a vital run in.
Ok, the maths show that we would loose some cash but if it helps get the team in the championship then in the long term its a winner. Its only two games!
The only draw back to it is that the team continue to play crap and the fans get on their backs. Like someone said earlier perhaps the team would play better in an empty stadium!

  2. I’ve sat eating a sandwich [ham & mustard, v. nice] and run this thing through a dozen times – and it always comes out as a close thing – with 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th always within a point or two. I fear we will haunted by the 1-0 defeats by non-challenging teams that are too common since the end of November.

  3. I couldn’t agree more with Kieran on the ticket prices. Personally I’d have a permanent kids for a quid policy and more regular price reductions to fill the ground as it should be.

I have decided that as we only have 2 fir strikers, we need Wier Daley back from Bradford. As CC does not seem to have noticed this, I plan to put a call in to the Bradford chairman myself this afternoon.

    Que Sera, Sera….

  4. I really should be getting on with work-related stuff, but i just had to know…will we go up?? YES!! Same points as bristol, but a single goal extra. Excellent, no need to worry any more, is there.
(Still, my results were based on us beating bournemouth 3-0, and as we all know after the 1st one goes in we’ll sit back and defend deep lumping the high aimless ball forward hoping to latch onto a defensive mistake, therefore not scoring the 2nd and 3rd goals which would have given us automatic promotion and instead consigning us to the play-offs and almost certainly another season in this division before becoming the first former european cup winning club to fold due to a lack of supporters coming through the turnstiles…)
Oh, and no need to call back spencer wd, aylesbury red, apparently scot dobies injury isnt as bad as CC first feared. Phew!

  5. Oh good. Dobes to the rescue! Another non scoring striker that will no doubt score against us when we finally release him for nothing to a rival team.

Someone pointed this out on the evening post website and I can’t believe it. Our loan signing James Henry, who has yet to be given more than a few minutes for us, is back at Reading and playing for their reserves tonight?

What the f*ck is going on????

  6. disappointing but according to the OS we couldnt offer him the first team football he wanted after giving him ‘a good look in training’.
Bit of a damp sqib really so we can look forward to John Curtis’ maurauding raids down the right from now till the end of the season.

Just a point on what Mattyboy has said, more often than not this season, if we score the first goal early at home we relax and start actually playing, so if we do score the first against Bournemouth, who knows confidence may return and we could bang in 3 goals. We just need to get that early goal.

  7. Well I tried it too, with my usual optimism. I give Forest three wins and a draw at Orient and my final standings are: Scunny 90, Forest 82, Brizzle 81, Yeovil 80, Blackpool 78, Oldham 76. Cheltenham and Bradford go down together with Rotherham and Brentford. Reds come out 3-1 winners at Griffin Park on Saturday. Yeovil beats Brizzle in the playoffs final. You read it first here. UUUUU REEEEEEDS!
PS: Is there a person with brains in this world that wouldn’t hate having to root for Millwall??? :)

  8. for what it’s worth , i tried the calculator and got us finishing 2nd ahead of Brizzle on goal difference……
