It’s not big, it’s not clever, and indeed – it hasn’t even made me feel any better – but nonetheless, here is what has happened over Easter for us.

  1. Relax mate….it ain’t over yet.

  2. It is if we keep playing like we have done. No desire, no passion and no end product – it’s a huge let down to the thousands that turn up week in week out, and it’s hardly encouraged those who turned up today to swell our attendance to almost 28,000!

    I’m so pissed off.

  3. It’s not over Vassilis, obviously being from Greece you don’t watch this pile of shite, We have ffing no chance mate,

To say I am pissed off also is an understatement.

Can’t beleive they are going to blow promotion, another season watching shite players. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT

  4. We all are gutted I guess, regardless of the distance :) . But the more pissed we are now, the more we will enjoy it if things turn our way.
I would love to be one of the 28,000 tho, no matter what…
See you soon guys, Im planning to come over either for the Crewe game or in Wembley (yes, we will get there unless we win auto.)

  5. I’m sick to my back teeth of the senior players taking zero responsibility. I seriously think that if they were playing infront of an empty stadium they would play better. They see a big crowd and time and time again the players perform within themselves, they pass it sideways, pump pointless long balls up the pitch, show no passion or creativity, or more basically, any initiative or desire to win. The players don’t deserve promotion, the fans do, but the senior players in this squad are the worst excuse for professional footballers that I have ever witnessed. Breckin and Curtis – I can’t stand them. Commons – I wish he would just realise that he’s not as good as he thinks he is. Holt and Lester – Why don’t they focus on creating opportunities and scoring goals rather than constantly complaining and picking up unnecessary bookings. The only players that can hold their heads up high at this point in the season are the youngsters in the team who seem to appreciate the fact that we need to win these games to get promoted!!!

I’m on the train back to London now, as I am on the return leg of the trip I make for every home game. These players are seriously making me consider whether I will ever bother again. Well… Maybe just next week at Brentford…!

  6. The ONE thing I supported Megson for was getting those fans into the dressing room after an abysmal Forest performance. “Justify your performance today to these who have paid money to watch that crap ” or words to that effect.

We continue to pay from our income and at least expect to see a group of professionals give of their best ~ whether it’s good enough to win the match or not.
I’ve had doubts from the start about CC’s ability to motivate or kick arses as appropriate.
Sorry but . . . if Roy Keane can do it for Sunderland it shows the team manager has responsibility and ought to have the ability to motivate and get results from any team.
Who’d give us long in the Championship even if we did win the play-off place ?

  7. You’re right, chaps. Vassilis, don’t rush over for the Crewe game, mate – you’ll regret the waste of money. After all, Crewe have nothing to play for, and will therefore show more passion than the Reds. I’ve calmed down since the game, but I still can’t believe it. Why can’t our players look even a little bit bothered?

Next week it’s Brentford, who also now have nothing to play for, and will stroke the ball around the park in a relaxed fashion, whilst Grant Holt dives over every outstretched toe whilst simultaneously complaining to the referee that he got nothing for his last dive; Lester will wait until the 54th minute before being needlessly booked, again; everyone else will have a competition to see who can look the most bemused at the little white round thing that keeps passing them by in the middle of the park.

Thank goodness we haven’t got to worry about playing teams like Wolves, Derby, Coventry, Leicester or the might of Burnley next year. We may have to cope with the likes of Swindon and Bristol Rovers – and they CAN beat Bristol City!

Still, we can still catch Scunthorpe, you know…

Sorry, that’s a misprint – it’s supposed to read “We can still catch THE BUS TO Scunthorpe, you know…”

  8. What can we do? The stupid supporters who wound up our millwall player will probably keep their mouths shut now as it probably cost us 2 points, but if forest had played better their attention would have been on supporting the team and encouraging us to get more goals as we MUST have a better goal average than city. Now Blackpool have set their sights on automatic promotion spot and their manager and players know what they have to do to get there…Win Every Game.. PLEASE FOREST PLAYERS ,THE FOOTBALL IS EASIER IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP;;;;;;Fight as if your life depends on it for the last games……….

  9. Why would winding up our Millwall player cost us points?

If WE could get the ball in the net we’d get a point.

But we can’t. End of story.

  10. Why sign James Henry and not use him?
Why put our most creative midfielder up front when he could be more use collecting the ball and dictating our play?
Be fair on the players. Do you think James Perch knows how to cut open defenses. I cant even remember Prutton being that creative. Commo can and he’s being completely wasted. We have a manager with no creative invention whatsoever.
And did anyone see Doughty’s suit yesterday, it was horendous.
    I’m so depressed right now.

  11. chin up

  12. Finally Im not the only one declining to fall into melancoly! Cheers Sam!

  13. You guys didn’t see the suit!

  14. I feel this suit demands description! If you see him in it again take a picture and send it to me! :)

  15. What utter crap. No passion – No nothing.

I travel to the City Ground from Horncastle every home game and several away games ( Swansea, Cheltenham, Chesterfield, Rotherham) – What for I ask myself ??? There is more passion and commitment shown by the kids on my local park.

What do the Forest team do @ the Training ground ?? Polish their plush cars they drive around in !!!!!! Come on Commons and Co. – remember you only get something out if you put in the effort. Stop short changing the suuporters.

  16. Come the end of the season regardless, I am making plans for banners posters etc with the slogan Doughty out, there may be people out there who disagree with this, but to be honest I could give to s**ts, the bloke is a complete and utter moron who has very little love for our beloved club.

Colin Calderwood has done little or nothing to elevate my doubts about the man, which stemmed as early as when he was rumoured to be taking over and many Northampton fans pre warning us of his negative tactics and clueless awareness.
At first I thought this may have been a case of sour grapes, but o how they were right.

Doughty knew precisely was he was doing when appointing Calderwood and what he was getting so you Nigel should be held responsible for this mess. I have been down as a fan many times as a fan (mainly during Doughty’s reign) but after yesterdays I feel like a broken man. The rot is well and truly alive and I see no end to this while these men are still in power.

To the bashers who want to criticize my comments all I will say is “I’ll leave it with you,” but is it really such a crime to demand change, explanations, reassurance for the future? What do we get “We Are Serious About Promotion, Are You?) What an insult to our intelligence.

I am certainly not alone in my views and I’m pretty sure sooner or later, the blind faith will soon come onside and realise this is our only pathway out. It’s rather sad it’s come to this though; the clowns have brought on them self.

We are still paying the price for a huge gamble nearly 8 years ago, how does that work out as being a justly price to pay?

There is a mass clearout needed from top to bottom, Doughty, Arthur, Calderwood and his coaching staff, and half the squad, I’m prepared to build for the future and be patience but knowing it really is going to happen, as apposed to the false dawns the forever plague this once great club.

Or am I just another fan with too higher expectations am I?

    We are a joke, period!

  17. gentlemen
i have been saying it all season if you don’t attack you do not take the game to the opposition. When we had an attack we did not capitalise, now we havn’t what chance have we got, a slim one.
the negative tactics have shown what a poor appointment – once again by that prat of a chief executive- calderwood was. Its not the players all the time they play to a pattern dictated by the manager, If we play deep we do not support the forwards who therefore have to create there own chances.
it could be another season in this division and of course the prices will go up – how do these people sleep at night

  18. they sleep easy, beestonred, knowing that again and again we say ‘enough is enough’, yet again and again we put our hands in our pockets, pay the prices, and turn up every week. If only the players/management showed the same passion and commitment…

  19. Lack of passion lack of ideas. Responsability for this in my opinion is the man who sends them across the white line. He should be planning tacticts they believe in ! Instilling passion that makes them battle for every ball !
This is clearly not happening, players do not naturally do these things without a kick up the arse. CALDERWOOD SORT THIS OUT OR LEAVE NOW !! . Even when we’ve played well this season the passion has been missing infact I can’t remember the last time I saw a Forest side play with passion and commitment. I would rather see Charlie take over than watch our season die.

ps Horncastle Red, bet you’d rather be in Tenerife now than watching this.

  20. Beeston Red is exactly right. I too have preached the need for the team to have more attacking ambition throughout the season. Whether you like it or not, Calderwood IS a cautious manager and plays cautious football. Time and time again we play too deep, time and time again our forwards receive little or no service and time and time again the supporters bemoan the lack of ‘passion’ in the players. There was not a lack of passion from the players yesterday. The response from them when the Gillingham result was announced was telling – almost as one they dropped to the floor with head in hands. Are you telling me, Perch & Prutton played with no passion yesterday? Yes, they were ineffective but the gap between he front and back was so huge for most of the game, they had to do most of the work themselves

Yesterday, Krissy Commons spent most of the match so deep it was incredible (he was basically standing on Alan Wright’s toes for the first 20 minutes of the second half.) Then, once Calderwood changed to (a more attacking??!!) five man defence, he was pushed right up the pitch when what was actually needed was more creativity. Crazy! Why were 3 of the 4 outfield substitutes defensive minded players – where were James Henry and Rob Hughes? Plain daft!

Don’t blame the chief executive for the appointment of CC. The blame for that lays at the Chairmans door. He appoints and has a liking for ‘pragmatic’ (long ball, defensive) managers and believes this is the right policy for teams to play (I know this, as I’ve heard him say it!). The only thing CC has done right is the signing of Luke Chambers (who IS quality). The good start to the season is now clearly an overspill from Charlie & Frank’s work the previous season because as the season has gone on, we have become MORE negative, MORE ineffective and MORE inept.

  21. barrow red you may be right about Arthur, i just don’t like him and i do really believe he has no idea what is going on.
as i have said before on this site Charlie should have been given the job (unless a TOP manager were apponted) and has more idea of playing ‘Forest’ football than anyone, look at the reserves results. It was Doughty who told him that he was not required so i would agree that the buck stops with him….and the CEO

  22. Barrow Red, sorry mate I saw Perch duck out of several 50 – 50 challenges yesterday and Prutton looked like he was strolling in the park if that’s not lack of passion I don’t know what is.
Don’t get me wrong I think Perchy is a good young talent but yesterday he didn’t seem bothered as for Prutton I think we saw his better days before he went to Southampton.

  23. I wish to vent my anger after witnessing the most atrocious game of football I’ve seen played at the City Ground this season.

After having to endure some totally shocking football under the tenure of Gary Megson, I genuinely thought we Forest fans would never again have to witness the horrors of the past and Nigel Doughty had finely got it right when he announced he was now looking for an “up and coming manager.” During this interview Doughty noted that he wasn’t surprised by the level of interest in the vacant position at the City Ground but stressed time would be taken while sifting through the applications.

And whom does he choose out of this gigantic list, Colin Calderwood!

It seemed he ticked all the right boxes, young, experienced, but most importantly guided his previous club to promotion, and all be it the third attempt.

The first few months seemed to be going fantastic, even with without our main man we seemed to be ploughing through teams with much ease, but the most bizarre thing of all, we wasn’t even playing well.

Many thought we were soon going to click into gear, get Tyson back and introduce some fresh legs in January then we would kick on and finish the job off as Champions, so what on earth went wrong?

During our December wobble; which we have never recovered from, I was expecting Calderwoods quality to shine through by the introduction of his motivational skills, here we would then see us go on another mazy run.

This to date has never emerged; all we have seen is this constant post match drivel, that’s leaves a more sour taste than a pint of milk that’s been on a doorstep for six months.

I am not kidding but that game of football was an absolute disgrace yesterday and a full and frank apology was what was needed from Calderwood. This unsurprisingly never came though what did was not his normal routine but here for the first time, I seemed to witness a man lost of words, lost for ideas or excuses.

Regarding the game, as it’s now yesterday’s news and enough people have already commented on why the bench was packed out with defenders, why we decided to play 5 at the back, why we had no width, why the midfield was non-existent and why the hell we constantly played hopeless long balls up field to two strikers with little or no pace?

I can honestly say I can’t tell either Megson or Calderwoods game plan or tactics apart, in fact it still feels like the mans here.

Calderwood is a very poor manager at best and how he managed to get Northampton up I’ll never know, but what I do know is I won’t be having the patience for 3 years for him to achieve this with us because to be honest he doesn’t deserve it.

I now feel this job was far to big for him and he was way over confident with himself when foolishly claiming we’d be in the Championship come May, this will only result in him alienating himself from the fans in the coming months.

If any of you fans out there still think he will get us up, you are even crazier than some of the positive comments that still spill out onto various forums.

This is yet another gamble gone wrong by the man who claims to be a fan of Nottingham Forest.

Get this Nigel, if you really are a fan, you’ll do us a big favor and walk away!

Before the rumbles start and cause even more heartache for both kids and families alike!

An absolute shambles from top to bottom!

  24. hear hear

  25. Absolute rubbish URED.

At no stage did I say that either Perch or Prutton played well. But the two of them covered every blade of grass yesterday. Due to our negative tactics – defend deep & kick it long – the two of them were required to cover two thirds of the pitch almost on their own (as Lewis McGugan was clearly not fit).

The point is we were tactically outplayed by a team who will be relegated next season. And that is down to the manager, not the players.

You can blame the players for putting in a rubbish performance, fair enough. But it wasn’t for a lack of effort or workrate which is what some morons are trying to say.

The point is, the players are not as good as WE think they are. They are unable to consistently pass to a member of their own team. I would have thought that is essential for a professional!

  26. Ok, bit off subject but Vital Forest has a poll for “Who would you like to be captain next season”

Just wondering what your opinion is on this folks.

I feel Breckin has a been a dire captain for us. I don’t feel a captain should lead by example (unless that is how many times you can kick a ball over the main stand) but i want a captain to be.. well lets be serious.. Psycho..
Passion is the word that keeps cropping up….

“Prutton (if he stays)” is currently leading the poll, with Chambers not to far behind.
Sort of agree, i inclined for Chambers my self.
Mainly after leaving on Monday, felt he was the only player not to have pissed me off all game.

I have another rant which i over heard someone say on Monday. But ill save that for another time.. (don’t get too excited)

  27. Not Prutton. Far too hot headed and hardly a good example.

Chambers looks like good future captain material – but he’s not even what I’d consider a first team regular yet.

  28. But surely you must agree Breckin has done nothing to help us as being captain.
The reason he was popular last year was because of his goals.
He has hardly contributed at all this season. I always felt he was at his best when Cullip was dominating the defence, and Southall was actually getting balls into dangerous areas from corners.
Ok, so back to a terrible January transfer window…..

  29. If there was one thing that we were good at under Megson it was set pieces, and Breckin with Southall was key to that, but even before Southall left we had been pretty inept at freekicks and corners this season. Does Calderwood spend each training session just massaging “the Group’s” already inflated egos, and not enough time practising how to score from set plays?!

A captain should be able to force the players around him to take the game by the scruff of the neck but time and time again Breckin, like the others, is prepared to coast through a game instead of igniting those around him into action, he’s not good enough as a player never mind as a captain.
