Doncaster get some silverware…

… and no, it’s not an April Fool’s joke!

It was the Johnstone’s Paint Final today, and Doncaster managed to overcome their fellow Rovers (from Bristol) with an extra time winner, after an apparent hum-dinger of a game had finished 2-2.  Donny were two up, and Bristol brought it back to force extra time before the South Yorkshire side take the trophy.

So congratulations to Doncaster Rovers – I know many (including myself) laid into the competition, but I must admit I did start to come around to wanting to do well in it as our involvement deepened.  Of course, I am very hopeful that we have no further need to even think about it – because hopefully we won’t be involved in it next season (that’s a hope rather than a prediction, alas!).

A good send off for the Millennium Stadium though, presumably it will return to the vaguaries of Welsh international or domestic football and Rugby fixtures and thus disappear from the radar of most of us, as our games of note return to the new Wembley stadium!
