Well that could’ve been worse!

table_27thfeb.jpgWhilst Scunthorpe continued their excellent form with a 1-3 victory at Gresty Road against Crewe, it was kind of predictable, despite the excitement of Crewe taking the lead (I couldn’t help but vaguely keep track of the results after all!).  They’re looking decided difficult to catch now - a full ten points ahead of us.

That said, if (and it’s a big if) we win our game in hand, then it’s seven points, and it wasn’t that long ago that we were that far clear of the chasing pack.  But the better news was that Blackpool beat Oldham at Boundary Park, and Doncaster held Yeovil to a draw - so assuming we’re capable of mounting some kind of run of form, second place is looking a lot more of a tempting prospect.  Of course, we have to watch out for Bristol City below us.

It certainly makes the forthcoming fixtures with Scunny and Bristol a little more interesting, both away from home, and our only remaining fixtures against “contenders” this season - ordinarily I’d be happy with that, but with Forests’ propensity to drop points against teams lower in the league table, it’s hardly a comfort to be facing so many of them over the coming weeks.  The rapidity of Oldham’s poor run of form offers hope that it may affect a few more of our promotion rivals, but of course, it’s a stark warning that we could go that way again after the awful run we’ve hopefully put behind us…

Scunthorpe have to start losing soon though? Right? I mean, they’ve got a physio in charge and have lost one of their star strikers…

(Shh, I’m trying to find some comfort here… ;)

All the teams around us are going to have a blip in form, maybe not quite ‘forest style’, but they will all drop points between now and may. Hopefully we can take 6 of our points off bristol city and scunny.
alanwood made a good point, did any of our lot go to crewe? They could have learnt a lesson methinks…
Ps good information from a contact at lincoln, weir-daley for frecklington (who apparently is a very promising midfielder)

Perhaps a physio unburdened by FA coaching badges can see just how simply the game can be played both tactically and in terms of formation

February 28th is entering the past soon. I would like to believe that CC and the lads are so confident they don’t think we’ll need a playoff final…

Just wondering if anyone has caught this on the bbc yet…

was quelle suprised at the following comment from the great CC…

“I don’t know where the Forest fans get this reputation from for getting on the team’s back if they’re not winning, I don’t see it at all.

Reports about being booed off at half-time when we’re drawing 0-0 are ridiculous if anything because the atmosphere is very, very positive behind the team. ”

    Ehm!!

    WHERE ARE LOAN SIGNINGS?!?!!!!!!

  7. Kieran Says:

We can actually sign on or after 28th for these players to be eligable for any playoff final. Maybe they are waiting for Monday to bring in players to a full week of training…
    …maybe…

And Matty Jarvis’ agent has ruled out any move until summer.

You’ve got to take your hat off to Scunthorpe. Even losing their manager and striker they have just kept on winning. For a small club with vastly inferior resources to us, they have done brilliantly and I’m sure they wont throw their lead away as easily as we did!

I reckon it will be a straght fight between us and Bristol for the other automatic promotion place. Oldham are on the slide and Stoke have been linked with a loan move for their star striker. Hopefully Yeovil will fall away soon aswell.

I don’t expect any new faces because CC does not want the problem of leaving his senior professionals out of the squad. I understand his dilemma but this could ultimately prove to be his downfall.

It could also be the case that he is certain this squad has enough to get us promoted.
