I'm shaking my head at how hard it is to please some of you lot.

This follows on from NFFC's Calderwood's Time machine thread...but I see planety of Forest fans on various message boards week after week accusing many of our current players of 'lacking passion' then, when our captain shows a little bit too much passion in the heat of the moment, you're all calling for him to be stripped of the captincy...

...unbelievable.

I agree with nearly all said by WackoJacko (even allowing for the lack of a spell check!) but since when has it been part of a professional footballers job to 'deal with' abuse? It's certainly not in their contracts and let's not forget, they're human beings with feelings and emotions. Would you 'deal with' people swearing at you as part of your day job? I know I wouldn't and neither I guess would anyone else on this forum. Sorry, but if you can't take it don't dish it out. Simple. On the other side, I don't think anyone would condone Breckin's behaviour at Carlisle, as reported by Boozehound above . If he did prevent others from clapping at the final whistle then he wants a good telling off. He's club captain, not club facist dictator.

RE: Ian Breckin and Forest supporters

I was disgusted with Ian Breckin at the final whistle. This isn't the first time this particular player has been involved in an incident like this with Forest fans.

He did exactly the same at Accrington in the League Cup and even prevented some of his team-mates clapping the Forest fans at Carlisle after the game. How can you justify pulling a player away from walking over to his fans just to show appreciation?

Win, draw or lose you have a right to thank supporters who are not only paying your wages but have then paid more money in travel and match expenses to try and offer their support.

What players need to understand is that a minority of Forest fans are idiots and will boo at any given opportunity because they have been spoilt with success in the past.

Yes a section of fans booed at Carlisle and if I played for Forest then I guess I'd be a little upset that I'd tried my best for 90mins and the fans were shouting abuse but that's football! Most of the people booing have probably never played football at any level yet think they know everything because they go every week.

I travelled a round trip of 450 odd miles to Carlisle and stood and clapped the players at the end, I also clapped on Tuesday night until I saw that muppet. The least they can do is clap, afterall - no fans = no wages = no job. Simple.

Breckin obviously isn't up to the job of captaining this football club if he's going to lose his rag because ONE supporter is being abusive towards him. Ok, so I hear everyone saying 'well who do you give the armband to then?' and the answer is: I don't know because we haven't had a leader since Colin Cooper or Stuart Pearce (arguably Des Walker but he was about as vocal as a comedian with his microphone turned off)

I just wish Forest fans would look at the bigger picture. We're one point (YES just ONE point) away from 2nd place which to those who have forgotten is an automatic promotion place which I believe was the aim at the start of the season if I'm not mistaken.

So what if we don't win the league but finish 2nd? Balls to a championship winning medal. Fans don't get a medal so as long as we go up I don't give a shit. Playoffs would be a failure, second place would be job done and I still believe that with a couple of loan signings in a week or so, we have enough in our locker to do it providing the fans get off the players backs and get behind the team for a change.

BH

PS- One last rant before I go. Fans that sing 'loyal supporters' away from home then boo at the end are a joke to the club and should be shot. You know who you are and so do I so shut up.

Thankyou

Well, well, well another "right wing fascist" in latenightpsycho.

I take my 4 year old boy to all home matches. I do not expect him to witness such things and hear such bad language. So imagine my disgust when I saw Mr Breckin making all those gestures and spitting all those VILE words towards us decent fans. And then imagine my dismay when, with tears in his little eyes, Calvin (named after the prolific Calvin Plummer) turned to me and said, "Father, why is the Forest Captain giving me the V sign and swearing"

I didn't know what to say apart from tell him the truth, so I told him it was because "Breckin is a stupid ******* ****"

Seriously though, I’ve got to agree with latenightpsycho. If Breckin was swearing at the whole crowd I could agree with people having ago at him. But he was doing it to one or two who'd shown their displeasure (rightly or wrongly) towards him. And if it did offend fans with kids at the game then I'm sorry but you hear it all the time at football matches, whether it's from the pitch or from the supporters around you.

The man who caused Breckin to have this reaction is clearly a bit of a twat, and credit to Breckin for admitting that he did it and for apologising. However, I have two further points:

1) One constant criticism of the Forest players over the past few seasons has been thir lack of professionalism both on and off the pitch. I don't agree with barrating an individual player (except for Alan Rodgers), but there are people out there that always will. Part of the job of a professional footballer is to deal with this and it is the job of the captain of a football team to set the example for the rest of the team. I can't hep but feel that the reaction of Breckin is somewhat indicative of the general lack of professionalism that still exists amongst the players at this club and is symptomatic of the kind of attitude that leads to 5-0 defeats at Oldham and decisions to play welkl one week and then not to really bother the next.

2) Having said the above, the Forest players seem tobe at their best when playing with confidence. This was shown with their perfomances at the end of last season and at the beginning of this one. This is not a mentally tough squad of players, therefore getting on their backs will never hel them. Feed them with encouragement and they will be les likely to hide as individuals during matches and perform like the confident 'team' that was seen at for example Crewe. The players I think will polayers I think will play a confident, attacking and passing style of football more often than not , if they were full of confidence and had the sense oif elief that if they were to try and attack temas, taht they would not have a vocal City Ground on their backs should they make individual errors.

Personally I find it all highly amusing. Grown men and women up in arms just because somebody’s sworn at them. Listen to yourselves, it’s all right for some to stand up and hurl abuse as the fancy takes them but as soon as it’s returned you’re all crying to mummy. If you’re not big enough to take it don’t dish it out. Football fans are too soft nowadays. And anyway, what’s wrong with a bit of player/supporter interaction?!

Quite right, not the best player on the pitch but not the worst either. Politicians apology should be accepted and now get on with the job in hand. Strange tho how certain individuals can get away with constant abuse/barracking just because they're the other side of that white line...
Still think that chambers should play tho!
