Like many Forest fans, I had a quiet smile at the Derby result last night. You might have noticed a distinct lack of contact between me and my Derby-supporting friend who I’d been interviewing earlier in the season – this is entirely deliberate and I thank them for not hassling me when things are going well at the theatre of sheep, and not so well at ‘fortress’ (arf) City Ground. The Championship is shaping up for an exciting climax.
As far as I’m aware, the Sheep weren’t exactly expected to run away with the league this season, in fact, a top half finish seemed to be the best many fans hoped for at the wrong end of Brian Clough way. Billy Davies has obviously blown these expectations out the water – the molesters of mutton were 6 points clear atop the Championship – and still remain in 1st spot as I type – so it was with something akin to childish glee that I found this thread of utter whingeing via a helpful link on Vital Forest.
Now I’m always quite quick to stick the boot in on some sections of our support who are utterly unreasonable most of the time – but that link takes the biscuit entirely, and does indeed confirm the age old adage, that I’d rather be a muppet than a sheep!

On Tues night just after full time a woman pushed pass me gesturing to the pitch yelling ‘they are the s**tiest players I have ever seen in Red shirts !’ I replied that she could’nt have seen many games because I’d seen worse than that. I tyrade of abuse followed (not surprisingly).
I’ve got no time for part time supporters who still think we’re playing Premiership football. My view was that it was’nt a good performance but if the dubious penalty had not been given we’d all be thinking 3 points taken from one of the divisions better teams.
Yes it wasn’t a good performance but let’s put this into perspective it wasn’t our worst performance of the season and was certainly better than the Northampon game in my opinion
Our fans are fickle. In fact, all football fans are fickle. It’s in their nature.
You’re quite right, of course – it’s nice to have the perspective that we’re not the only ones now and again, though!
Thanks for posting this nffc, had a good laugh.
I hope our own fans see it and see how ridiculous this moaning can be.
Funny about the fickle. My grandfather always would root for the winning team of the time (forever ago, now). But I know many who like to root for the underdog. What do you suppose that means about these people???
Me? I root for the fans. I just want everyone to have some good fun and not beat up too many people while they’re at it.
Wow. That post was entertaining on so many levels. You would expect that any article or post that opens with the phrase “I have wrote this from the heart” could only get better, but sadly, you would be wrong.
Maybe he had a few pints, (or gallons) on board when he wrote that. Always re-assuring to know that other clubs have “supporters”, (and I use the termVERY loosely), like that. Of course, as a Liverpool supporter I have to point out that at Anfield every single supporter is 100% committed to the players, coaching staff and board 100% of the time, and any occasional criticism is expressed completely constructively, (and with perfect grammer every time). And honest, I really HAVE wrote this from the heart!!!
Ha ha ha..that was pure brilliance from the D*rby muppet. It brightened my day up!!
