.. home being Hull City, of course – his home town club. Well perhaps, according to this website, which suggests that Burley has made the midfielder available for transfer from Southampton as he’s out of contract at the start of the season. They also suggest that we are still interested, despite Smoulderwood denying this particular rumour when it first surfaced before the transfer window opened.
Judging by the forums, Prutts would be a popular addition to the Forest squad – a squad that it’s no secret to say is probably looking to strengthen in midfield where Prutton plys his trade. The pricetag suggested in the article is a mere £200k, which seems very reasonable – and considering we’ve made more than that in our unbudgeted-for FA Cup run already, should be well within our means.
I’m not sure that Prutton qualifies as the “creative” midfielder many clamour for – my memory of him was a hardworking grafter – he’d break up play, he’d put in mileage, he’d invariably get booked (or worse!) and have the occasional shot which would usually end up amongst the fans behind the goal. I wouldn’t be adverse to him signing at all, but I don’t think he’s the answer to all our problems.

Sign him up, give him a chance to come good again. 200k for his potential would be silly to turn down.
He is the answer to all of our problems (or at least all of my problems) – he is Premiership class and just needs to be given the right environment to prove it in. He would be keen on a move to Hull, but he also has a lot of affection for Forest, he was at the club from a very young age.
If we sign him,, I can see him being the club captain as we regain our Premiership status in a couple of years time (that’s if we don’t balls it all up this year!!)
Please sign him CC.
Yeah, at £200k, we’d be silly to not even attempt to get him. Wages could be a stumbling block though…
I’m sure we can match what Hull will offer! I seem to remember, however, that he was one of the players (like Chris Bart Williams) at the club that the Chairman insisted was dropped becuse he refused to sign the new contract that was offered to him. Have I made that up? I can’t really remember.
I LOVE Prutts! I was sad to see him go coz he was a Red thru and thru and he always gave you 110%. Hes a box to box player and someone who would add real class to our squad.
£200k is a snip so come on Smolders, get cracking…..
Bargain if £200’000 is true. Come Back!
Prutton and Clingan would make a decent central midfield, providing we kept our creativity on the wings. Go and sign him, Smoulds!
I think “if true” is the most important bit of any of the comments so far – hardly from a reliable source
Sounds like he would do the job that Gary Holt’s failed to do week in week out.
Ok, a few years back i (drunkenly) met Prutts in a Kebab shop in hull.
When i said i was a Forest fan, well he laughed. After some of the things (which are vague but not nice) he said about forest being in league one, i don’t think he’ll come back.
He then tried to persuade me some blonde guy with him was Paul McGregor.. I didn’t believe him so i stole his chips..
Anyway, just don’t think he would.. But who knows..
Jeff – great story…………but I think its another “if true” – Prutts in a chip shop in Hull – are you sure it wasnt John Prescott back from a Texas Croquet Tournament???????
Saw this on the BBC footy section where they talk about what’s in the papers..
“Southampton have blocked midfielder David Prutton joining Hull for £400,000. (Various)”
Ok, bit late now but, see i did meet the prutton…
and “Paul McGregor”. What the heck happened to him by the way?!?!
He was in a band called “Merc” if I remember rightly! Dunno what he’s up to now, though!
