I posted a depressing preview for the Charlton game, so it’s only fair to comment on something a tad more positive occuring in the murky world of Nottingham Forest. Official text messages have been despatched confirming news that will presumably hit the official website soon, and whilst it’s not the new signing that we are all desperately awaiting some hint of, it’s still good news!
Gino Padula has had his contract terminated with Nottingham Forest – I must admit, when we signed him I thought it would be quite amusing to have a long-haired Argentinian playing for us. Those kind of raw materials are the kind of things that cult heroes are made from – but alas, he proved to be well, a bit shit really. He will be remembered most fondly in a Forest shirt for a slide tackle that took out Gary Megson on the touchline, and very little else.
The only galling thing is that presumably Forest have paid off his contract in order to get rid of him, but well, it needed doing. Fair well, Gino, you crazily rubbish footballer!

I actually thought he might have been in with a chance of playing against Charlton, with all the players we’ve got out injured. Thankfully that won’t happen now!
Apparently Ross Gardner will shortly complete his permanent move to Port Vale as well. Clearing out the decks for new signing perhaps?
It’s like you read my mind
There’ve been whisperings for a while that we’ve been trying to offload Padula, who was determined to see his contract paid up.
Well, great minds think alike and all that…
There’s a few more I’d like to see shown the door, however it does seem odd that we’re offloading players in position that we’re short of numbers for, whilst we continue to horde strikers.
I must admit on a personnal note that i dont think he was that bad. I agree with many of your opinions on this site and find most quite amusing but there does appear to be a trend at the moment amongst forest fans that if you don`t play many games for the club you are confined to the `he is shit` category. Please don`t think i am defending any player who didn`t show commitment, this i cannot bear. But players who were just out of favour because they were bought by a list of overpaid underachieving managers are not guaranteed to be `crap` just because of lack of first team football.
Suerly John Thompson and Ross Gardner are recent products of this theory?
Padula was awful though; I see your point – but I was basing my opinion on his performances rather than number of games played.
It’s certainly not his fault that we offered him an over-inflated contract for too long though, and I suppose in his position I’d also have dug in my heels and had it paid off.
