I fell foul of a scurrilous rumour after the draw away at Salisbury earlier this season, so I’m reticent to even comment on it again, but once again rumours of the players being out drinking before a match have surfaced. I’m pretty sure this is likely to be a big pile of over-exaggerated nonsense, just as the previous rumours probably were too – I guess it’s an obvious thing to fabricate given the poorness of our performance and the fact it was new years day.
Given that the players were similarly lacklustre against Tranmere – and that was 11 v 11 – I don’t seriously think this is true, and don’t really understand why people seem intent on fuelling such rumours. Ah well, each to their own! For those conspiracists amongst you, the rumours I speak of originate from here. I can’t imagine for a moment that the management would tolerate any such behaviour, and I also imagine they too were with the players the night before the game.

The rumours are rubbish, we just don’t look good enough at the moment. Until we start passing the ball to eachother we will fail. The players think they are better than they actually are. I swear my sunday league team play more attractive football than Forest at the moment
Well, this is the first thought I had when I saw that score come in. I guess with the reputation that our teams in the recent past have had it’s kind of difficult not to think that following a 5-0 drubbing on New Years Day.
But after calming down somewhat I suppose I can see that it doesnt explain the Scunthorpe game either. Or the Oldham home game.
Why do Forest have to pile such misery upon us?
Its all Neil Harris’ fault
Unfortunately Kieran, all managers since the great man have a tough act to follow. There standards of football, discipline, management do not compare to Clough’s. Clark did a good job initially, Hart produced an exciting side for a time, Bassett did well at the start, but nobody has been consistent since Clough’s departure
What we need to do is play the ball on the ground and get back to basics, forget the long ball. if certain players can’t play that way, then get rid. A Forest team in this division should be controlling games, keeping good possesion, bossing midfield and keeping things tight at the back. This mentality has to come from the management team. I feel there is enough ability at the club and with one or two arrivals this month we could still go up automatically
I can’t see Gary Holt, Perch and Curtis start playing in the way you would like Nick but even without buying anyone we have the ability to get promoted and that has been proved in the first half of this season and the second half of last season. This perhaps is our blip but I do feel that certainly since we got so far ahead in the league the team as a whole have looked lazy or complacent on top of several other individual issues.
January is key for sure, but more in the hope that Billy Sharp and Chris Porter are snapped up and Tyson/Holt remain!
The simple fact of the matter is that for us to go up automatically the players need to roll up their sleeves and get the job done. Whether that requires the coaches to give them a kick up the backsides depends entierely on them and their professionalism.
Given the fact that they all but in name went on strike in protest against Megson I fear that the current crop we employ would rather the easy option and that is why I immediately jumped to the conclusion that they have been out drinking the night before.
Although we got off to a good start,
I feel we won games earlier in the season when we weren’t necessarily the best side during those games. I’am trying to be positive, but unless we buck up, and quickly we won’t be going anywhere. Yes, us forest fans do expect a lot and why shouldn’t we, we have won two European Cups. We should at the very least be in the premiership. We pay a lot of money to watch Forest and why should we accept long ball after long ball.
Part of the Forest tradition is to play good football.
If a proffesional footballer cannot pass a 10 yard ball to a colleague then there is something drastically wrong.
I do hope things improve and CC gets us up, but i think it will be difficult
4am?! Pah, bloody lightweights.
I once heard a story that “old big ‘ead” used to let Robbo have a nip of whiskey and a fag before a game. There is probably as much truth in that story as the one in the link.
CC does not strike me as the sort of guy who would let this happen, even if it was New Years Eve.
