Forest vs. Salisbury City preview..

It seems like I’ve been rambling about this fixture for aeons, it’s amazing that a fixture that is so insignificant on the grand scheme of things has generate such column inches both here and elsewhere.  All but the biggest romanticists would suggest that The Whites had their chance to cause an upset at their place, and they did in that they forced the replay.

Forest faced Salisbury originally on the back of a disappointing penalty shoot-out defeat in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy to Bristol City at home, and followed it up with a pretty shameful showing down at Bournemouth.  However, it won’t have escaped the part-timers attention that we recovered to annihilate Crewe Alexandra at the weekend, and are in good shape with injuries, only Agogo not deemed fit enough for inclusion at Gresty Road.

Salisbury will be cheered on by around 500 fans who have purchased tickets for the City Ground, I imagine Forest will attract around 5,000 or so (complete guess I might add), who will be scattered around the remaining lower tiers – so the City Ground won’t be as intimidating as it once was, but will certainly seem a big stage for Salisbury; and once again the TV cameras will be there desperate to see an upset.

With the better playing surface, the more familiar surroundings and with a few more fans backing them I can’t see Forest faltering this time – even with the massively negative force of the Sky TV cameras in attendance.  I predict that Salisbury will come at us early in the game and run out of steam, with us picking up a convincing victory in the end, and the reward of a 3rd round tie with Charlton and Andy Reid.

  1. Come on you reds. I can’t wait to see pandy reid back at the city ground.

  2. Yes, the score will be 3-1. Tubbs will score first, after a terrible mix-up in the Reds defence, due to naff commentry from the Sky personnel. But we will score straight from the kick-off, as they run out of cliches. In the second half it will be all Forest, with the second and third goals coming in the 73rd and 78th minutes respectively. You can take these facts to the bookies and clean them out…probably.

  3. 0-0 then extra time with commans scoring a free kick :)
