Krissy is League One player of the month

In his column on the FA website, Kris Commons has let slip that he’s won the player of the month award for November, I’ve certainly not seen the news leaked elsewhere so far – so well, congratulations Kris!  Certainly given his FA Cup player of the (first) round award, and this, it is perhaps starting to indicate some kind of consistency, but he needs to carry that on – and after the Bournemouth game, he needs to be a bit less ball greedy too.  He said:

“Earlier in the month I won the FA Cup Player of the First Round and this week won the Nationwide Player of the Month for League One. Awards like that are magnificent. They give you a lot of confidence and it’s always nice when you get recognition for playing well.”

There’s other amusing snippets of life as a Forest player in his column too, including interesting insights into such dramatic concerns such as the team stereo – which has a decidedly Indie sound to it unless Nicky “80′s/90′s dance lad” Southall gets his hands on it – I’m imagining him as a “Disco Stu” from the Simpsons type character now!  Perhaps most interestingly were his tips for taking freekicks:

“When I place the ball I use the logo, like the Mitre or Umbro sign, as a target. That is what I am aiming for. I then pick the line where I am going to hit the ball. Once I have done that I only look at the ball, concentrating on hitting the logo. I have quite a vicious shot, so I’m hoping with the movement of these new balls, it might be too good for the keeper. If you hit it with some power and on target then you have a chance.”

Maybe I’m being a bit too cynical, but he should take heed of his last bit of advice more often – perhaps the trick would be to point the Mitre or Umbro sign at something other than the wall or the stand behind the goal ;)   Only joking Krissy, you keep up the form and build up some consistency and get player of the year, as well – and stop hiding Rune Pedersens trainers in the fridge!  That’s just mean…
