Swansea visit the City Ground tomorrow on a reasonable run of form – they’ve amassed ten points from the last six games, whereas Forest have accrued nine, so not much to pick between them except that perhaps of those six games, Swansea have done better recently – whereas Forest have failed to win in four outings.
Perhaps not coincidentally, in those four games we’ve been without Danny Cullip, who could be in contention for a return against the Welshmen tomorrow, which is a huge boost as he seems to bring a great presence to our defence. Commons is apparently showing no ill-effect from his 90 minutes against Port Vale, so should retain his place, which would suggest we will stick to a conventional 4-4-2 formation, although hopefully with Southall on the right to give us creativity down both flanks. If Cullip is to return, then Big Wes is likely to make way for him.
Swansea are reportedly unlikely to have notable fatty Trundle-bum available to them, I read somewhere it was due to a hamstring injury, but I think it’s more likely he ate too many hamburgers. On a more serious note though, if true this is good, because whilst his temperament (well, he is a Scouser!) and professionalism are questionable, and his workrate not exactly huge, he does have the ability to change a game with one act of brilliance, as I’m sure you’ll remember from last season.
It’s going to be a tough game, but one we should be able to win, and boy do we need a win right now!
